Integrated library logistics in one of China’s largest libraries
Shanghai Library East
A new central library is currently being built in Shanghai, China. The 115,000 m² library, spread over two basement floors and seven upper floors, is located in the Pudong District right next to the city’s largest park, Century Park. The Pudong District is well known for its skyline. The impressive building of the Shanghai Library East fits in perfectly.
The Shanghai Library East uses an integrated library solution from Telelift in cooperation with bibliotheca to optimize book transport logistics. The concept includes an intelligent book return on the first floor with indoor and 24/7 outdoor returns. From there, 180 UniSortCars transport the books on 1,100 m of rails to a total of 16 stations. There are also 18 UniSafeCars in use.
In the basement there is also a sorting system with 24 sorting destinations for central sorting for all connected branch libraries in the city of Shanghai.
