Book sorting and transportation in the central city library
Busan Metropolitan Library
With a population of around 3.5 million, Busan is the second largest city in South Korea after Seoul. It is located on the south-eastern coast of the Korean Peninsula. It is considered one of the leading industrial cities.
As part of a government program to promote libraries in South Korea, the Busan Metropolitan Library was planned as the new central city library of Busan.
The Busan Metropolitan Library has a striking architecture. A glass facade takes up the entire front of the four-story building and ensures that the central hall and some other areas of the library are flooded with sunlight. This creates a cosy atmosphere in the library, inviting visitors to linger.
The new building features an integrated library solution from Telelift that includes book return, sorting and transport. From two external 24/7 book returns, 21 UniSortCars transport the single media to five sorting destinations on four floors. In addition, seven UniSafeCars ensure individual transport between three open access areas, the archive and the sorting room.
The newly established Telelift Korea Co., Ltd. ensures local service and support for the Busan Metropolitan Library and all other customers in Korea.
The Busan Metropolitan Library is thus ideally equipped for all logistical requirements of this modern library.
Our cooperation partner bibliotheca in Korea has made a nice video of the system – have a look!
